KS1 – Black History Month: Nelson Mandela
October is Black History Month! To help bring this important month into your classroom, we have produced a full month of resources for each phase.
This KS1 resource features a week of fully-planned whole-class reading looking at the inspirational Nelson Mandela. There are extracts from the illustrated version of his autobiography Long Walk to Freedom, and Grandad Mandela (co-written by three of Nelson’s grandchildren), plus a look at Britannica Kids biography!
There is daily vocabulary work and retrieval practice, plus work on a range of KS1 reading comprehension skills based on the National Curriculum reading content domains.
