FREDs Reading Fluency P.A.C.E Assessment – Year 4 Autumn 1 Test 1

This is the Year 4 Reading Fluency P.A.C.E Assessment, Autumn 1 Test 1.

This is a comprehensive fluency assessment, designed to give you a clear understanding of a pupil’s fluency profile using our P.A.C.E assessment rubric.

Rather than simply measuring CWPM, this assessment will allow you to assess and plan next steps for phrasing, accuracy, automaticity, comprehension and expression as well as understanding reading accuracy and speed.

There will be a total of twelve assessments (6 each for fiction and non-fiction) to complete over the course of the academic year, with text challenge level increasing as the year progresses.

The pupil assessment profile and record should give you a clear understanding of next steps, which may involve using our Fluent in Five and Fluency Friday resources to accelerate pupil progress.
