Hiya! I’m Vicky and I’ve been working in education for nearly twenty years now! For the past fourteen years, I’ve taught English in a SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school where I have had the privilege of supporting pupils who often need a little extra care and encouragement to thrive. Alongside this, I have worked with FREDsTeaching creating a wide range of resources, from WCR lesson units to the Fluent in Five and Writing Workshop intervention resources.
I’m deeply passionate about literacy and believe that reading is the most powerful skill a child can develop – it opens doors, builds confidence and sparks imagination!
Reading has always been a central part of my life, both professionally and personally. I’ve made it a priority to introduce books to my own children and grandchildren from a very young age. For me, reading is more than just a skill – it’s a way to escape, to explore new worlds, and to experience life through different perspectives. It is a love of reading that I strive to pass on to every child that I work with!
Three interesting facts about me…

Favourite books…
Kids – Winnie the Pooh was my favourite book as a child. It was the first book I ever bought myself, using my own birthday money.
Adult – My favourite adult book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
